Despite possessing one of the most iconic voices in reggae, Junior Murvin was criminally under-recorded in his time, and much of what was released then has been
heard by far too few. Known almost exclusively for his breakout hit "Police & Thieves" (perhaps the most well-known roots-era reggae song not on a compilation called
Legend), this first-ever reissue of his 1982 sophomore album and follow-up to that legendary collaboration with Lee Perry aims to correct that injustice.
Bad Man Posseé is an uncanny amalgam of the roots sound Junior Murvin had made a name with and the nascent dancehall style that had come to dominate reggae
inside Jamaica in the early 80s. His distinctively relaxed falsetto pairs seamlessly with the heavy, minimal rhythms of The Roots Radics and the loose yet still crisp
production from Mike "Mikey Dread" Campbell.
