Desmond Dekker’s contribution to Jamaican ska, rocksteady and reggae is unique with his amazing song writing and wonderful vocal talent.
His song "Israelites" reached the top of the UK Singles Chart in 1969 and was one of the first reggae songs to gain widespread popularity outside of Jamaica. The song's success helped bring reggae music to a global audience.
